Kensen
Saito,
Director of the Academy
Master of Shiatsu, B.A., R.M.T.
Inspired by his experience receiving manual therapy in high school,
he took a Namikoshi Shiatsu night class in 1971. He graduated with a
Bachelor of Law from Keio University in 1974 and The Japan Shiatsu School
in 1979. Kensen immigrated to Canada in order to introduce and diffuse
Shiatsu. He became a drugless practitioner (masseur) in Toronto, Ontario
and opened the Shiatsu Dohjoh in 1981. His practice, for the most part,
is treatment focused and he has a strong commitment to helping athletes
and performers, elite or otherwise, excel in their field of choice.
In 1989 Kensen founded the Shiatsu Diffusion Society, and in 1990 he
opened the Shiatsu Academy of Tokyo, and has taught there ever since,
for Shiatsu theory, practical and advanced Shiatsu. In 1996 he worked
to create the Holistic Practitioner License with the SDS, and in 2001
he Co-Founded the International Shiatsu Association.
Ross
Oakes, Vice-Principal, School Counselor
B.A., M. Religious Studies
Graduating with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Theology from Loyola
College in 1967, Ross went on to receive a Masters in Religious Studies
in 1972 from the University of Ottawa, a Teaching Diploma from Université
de Montreal in 1975. Between Montreal and Mississauga he has 36 years
of teaching experience, and has been the Vice Principal at the Academy
since 2005.
Greta
Kubis , M.Sc., RD
Greta gradated from the University of Olomouc in Czechoslovakia. She
practiced there for ten years using both physical and massage therapy
as part of her complex approach. In 1992, she completed a Masters of
Science program in Nutritional Sciences at the University of Toronto.
She is a member of the College of Dieticians of Ontario. She has been
the consulting dietician for such groups as Peel Health, Mississauga
Parks and Recreation and Sheridan College since 1993. She has taught
pathology, public health and nutrition at SAT since 1992.
David
Sugarman B.Sc. (Hon), B.Ed.
David received an Honours Bachelor of Science with an emphasis in Human
Life Sciences from University of Toronto in 1983, and a Bachelor of
Education in 1986.
He is currently the Senior Researcher for the Ontario Science Centre,
where he worked from 1981 to the present where he has worked on the
development of exhibits, public presentation and staff training. He
started teaching anatomy and physiology at the SAT in 1994 and in recent
years has added Pathology and Environmental Studies to his course load.
